Best Places To Live: Minneapolis. No Kidding.

September 25, 2014

Best Places To LiveThe September 2014 issue of Outside Magazine featured an article entitled “The 16 Greatest Places to Live in America Ever.” And Minneapolis made the top half of the list coming in at #3.  Is it any surprise?  Not to us Minnesotans and dwellers of the Twin Cities area.  If you are not yet a resident you should consider moving here.  Here are a couple of top reasons why.

Lifestyle perks

The folks at Outside Magazine asked readers to cast ballots and over 1.5 million of them responded.  Among the most important aspects of making a place liveable were lifestyle perks like access to adventure, bike trails and lanes, green space and a variety of gyms and health clubs.  Minneapolis boasts 6,744 acres of parks, 20 or so lakes and more than 70 miles of maintained trails all within city limits. If you love the outdoors you will love moving to Minneapolis.

Health and foodie perks

Love to eat?  Enjoy healthy foods? Minneapolis scored pretty high in this area too. Seems our “Eat Street” with 17 blocks of restaurants, breweries and wide variety of ethnic choices really impressed the judges. These businesses are mostly family owned and operated which really makes us proud. “Eat Street” is also home to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, an indoor climbing facility, theatres and entertainment venues.  If you love to eat out and consider yourself a foodie you will love moving to Minneapolis.

Work perks

The Twin Cities boasts the best unemployment rate of any large metropolitan area in the United States.  This recent article in the Star Tribune makes some impressive points including:

“The state, which has recouped all of the jobs lost during the recession, has the third-highest ranking of labor force participation in the nation.”

Combine the low unemployment rate with strong median income and low crime rates and you have the formula for one of the best places to live ever.  No kidding.

The magazine article recommends making the move to the Golden Valley area for families and for young couples and single to focus on the Uptown neighborhood.  The Twin Cities area offers a lot of great options whether you are looking to buy a home or rent a place.  And moving to Minneapolis couldn’t be easier. It’s our job to make it that way. So regardless of where you are moving from give us a call.  We’d love to be the first to welcome you to one of the greatest places to live in America.
