Every Tuesday at 1PM Central Time, Portage Cartage, of Manitoba, moderates a Twitter-based “movechat” for movers and consumers looking for information on moving. Good Stuff Moving has so far only been able to participate in one of these #movechats, but we had a great time doing so and enjoyed discussing the moving industry business with other experts and individuals seeking more information.

Unfortunately, due to work commitments, we won’t be able to participate in today’s scheduled #movechat. But since the topic is revealed a week in advance, we’re still going to address and discuss the topic here on our blog.

This week’s #movechat topic is “Customer Service and Moving Companies”. Customer service is obviously of top importance in any industry for any company. Unless you treat your customers correctly, you won’t have any customers at all. But when it comes to the moving and relocation industry, some companies don’t feel the need to put much thought into good customer service. After all, if you are being hired to do a move, chances are you will never see that customer again after you move them, right?

Wrong. One of the things that sets Good Stuff Moving apart from many of our Minnesota competitors is that we have been in business for over 15 years, and many of our customers are repeat customers. In fact, positive word of mouth has been one the ways our company has found business and seen positive growth. Minnesota residents that we help move have such a good experience that they then tell their friends about us. Our customers recommend us to new customers. And that only occurs when a company cares about a strong customer service experience.

If you don’t trust your movers, why would you allow them handle or haul your furniture and possessions? Good Stuff Moving makes no apology that we want to be known as the most trustworthy and honest movers in Minnesota. We are always looking for ways to take our moving experience and moving options to the next level. That’s why we offer so many different ways of hiring Good Stuff Moving, from simple labor to total moving and relocation packages. According to About.com, there are 10 simple commandments when it comes to customer service:

1. Know who is boss. You are in business to service customer needs, and you can only do that if you know what it is your customers want. When you truly listen to your customers, they let you know what they want and how you can provide good service. Never forget that the customer pays our salary and makes your job possible.

4. Make customers feel important and appreciated. Treat them as individuals. Always use their name and find ways to compliment them, but be sincere. People value sincerity. It creates good feeling and trust. Think about ways to generate good feelings about doing business with you. Customers are very sensitive and know whether or not you really care about them. Thank them every time you get a chance.

8. Give more than expected. Since the future of all companies lies in keeping customers happy, think of ways to elevate yourself above the competition. Consider the following:
What can you give customers that they cannot get elsewhere?
What can you do to follow-up and thank people even when they don’t buy?
What can you give customers that is totally unexpected?

For a moving company, customer service is of the utmost importance. And that’s why we spend so much time fostering relationships and a professional attitude at Good Stuff Moving. If you are looking for a moving company in St. Paul, Minneapolis, or the greater Minnesota area, give Good Stuff Moving a call and request a quote. We guarantee you will find us a professional, courteous, and affordable moving company.
